Guwahati, June 18: Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called on students and job-seeking youth to plan their careers with the future job market in mind. He emphasized that sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), green energy, and advanced manufacturing will become major sources of employment in the coming years.
In a message shared on the social media platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister referenced the recently announced Class 12 examination results. He advised students to choose career paths that align with the changing economic landscape.
He wrote, “If your Class 12 results are out and you are deciding on the next direction for your career, focus on those sectors that will shape Assam’s job market in the future. There will be no shortage of opportunities; just prepare yourself for them.”
Along with his post, the Chief Minister shared an infographic titled “Preparing Assam’s Youth for Future Challenges and Opportunities.” This infographic highlighted sectors that the state government believes will be the foundation for significant job creation in the future.
According to the infographic, the semiconductor industry is expected to create new job opportunities in chip manufacturing and related fields. This sector is seen as a new beginning for Northeast India.
With the establishment of Tata Electronics’ semiconductor assembly and testing unit in Jagiroad (Morigaon district), Assam is emerging as a major hub for semiconductor investment.
The Chief Minister also identified artificial intelligence (AI) as a rapidly growing field that will generate new opportunities in technology and data-driven careers. Additionally, he highlighted the green energy sector, including solar, hydroelectric, and clean energy projects, as having immense employment potential.
Moreover, advanced manufacturing, which involves modern production techniques and skilled industrial work, is also projected to be a key avenue for job creation in the future.
This appeal from the Chief Minister comes at a time when the Assam government is focusing on industrialization, skill development, and promoting investment to create large-scale employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Government officials believe that investments in technology, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects could position Assam as a leading employment center in Northeast India in the coming years.
