Mumbai, June 6: Amid increasing political turmoil in Maharashtra, Congress leader Naseem Khan has leveled serious allegations against the BJP and the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). He claims that the practice of horse trading among leaders has become a dangerous trend for democracy in the state. According to him, candidates are being coerced into withdrawing their nominations through political pressure, financial influence, and threats.
He stated, “The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shinde faction are involved in horse trading everywhere. They are misusing money and intimidating people to withdraw their nominations. This has become a new trend in Maharashtra, and it poses a significant threat to the country’s democracy.”
Khan further remarked, “What Jawaharlal Nehru did for this country is recorded in history. No one can forget it. Nehru worked to advance this nation from zero. All Congress Prime Ministers have contributed at different times to make India a strong and progressive country on the world map. If we look at PM Modi’s 12 years in office, what has happened during this period? The economy and overall economic situation have weakened. Today, inflation and unemployment are on the rise.”
He added, “GDP figures are being manipulated to mislead the public, with attempts to inflate them beyond reality. If you look at the actual GDP, it is barely over 2.5%, yet efforts are being made to present it as 4-4.5%. Incorrect data is being presented under pressure in various parts of the country. The Modi government has been presenting false economic figures.”
Commenting on the removal of Z-plus security for former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav, Khan said, “This is a very unfortunate situation. The way the BJP, whether at the central or state level, is trying to suppress and intimidate opposition leaders is alarming. It is gradually weakening the country’s democracy. This is condemnable. Leaders who require security everywhere should be provided adequate protection, and necessary steps must be taken to ensure this.”
