Lucknow, June 7: Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad has made significant remarks regarding police encounters and his recent meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He also addressed the rising LPG prices and comments made by the Allahabad High Court concerning policing.
In response to the police encounter that resulted in the death of Kamlesh Bind, Nishad stated, “Society has placed its trust in us, and it is my political duty to be their voice. Every citizen has the right to seek justice. Kamlesh Bind’s wife claims her husband was killed in police custody, which warrants investigation. The police have the right to shoot in defense, not in custody. Courts are responsible for punishing criminals. The police must present evidence against criminals in court and ensure they do not receive bail. Many officials are working to improve the government’s image; law and order in the state is satisfactory, but some officials are creating a negative atmosphere.”
Regarding the refusal of some allied parties to participate in the India Block meeting, Nishad remarked, “The Congress party was in power for nearly 70-75 years, and most of these parties were formed in opposition to Congress policies. While these parties may appear united, their ideologies and thoughts may not align. If they are seen standing with Congress, it will be assumed they support its policies. Leadership also matters. The issue is that such alliances often do not last long. Differences arise quickly, leading to the collapse of the coalition.”
The Allahabad High Court has commented that the UP police work for the government, not for democracy. Responding to this, Nishad said, “Everyone respects the court’s orders, and we cannot comment on them. However, according to the Social Justice Committee report, many officers were appointed during the tenure of the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party. Approximately four to five thousand families have benefited from reservations. Some police officials are tarnishing the image of the BJP government, which the court rightly pointed out.”
On the rising prices of LPG cylinders, the UP government minister stated, “We have not been able to become self-reliant due to previous governments. Now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is empowering the nation. The increase in LPG prices is due to the global crisis, which the public is aware of.”
