
New Delhi, June 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute approximately ₹2,400 crore in incentives at a special event held at Vigyan Bhawan. This initiative is part of the Prime Minister’s Developed India Employment Scheme.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the scheme has created around 1.5 million job opportunities across the country since its inception. The primary aim is to encourage both employees and employers to connect with the formal economy.
Under this scheme, first-time job seekers will receive an incentive of up to ₹15,000, providing them with financial support as they enter the workforce. Additionally, employers who create extra jobs will receive an incentive of up to ₹3,000 per month for each new employee.
The government has made special provisions to promote the manufacturing sector. Employers in this sector will receive incentives for four years, while those in other sectors will benefit for two years. This scheme is a significant step towards fostering employment-based economic growth and providing quality formal job opportunities for youth.
Launched on August 1, 2025, the total budget for this scheme is ₹99,446 crore, with a target of creating over 35 million jobs in two years. This includes approximately 19.2 million young individuals entering the workforce for the first time.
According to the government, the Prime Minister’s Developed India Employment Scheme will play a crucial role in increasing formal employment, strengthening social security coverage, and realizing the vision of a developed India.
