
New Delhi, June 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 23rd installment of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme during an event in Tarakeswar, West Bengal, on Saturday. This installment has seen over ₹18,880 crore transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 9.44 crore farmer families across the country through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
With this latest installment, the total amount disbursed under the PM Kisan scheme has surpassed ₹4.28 lakh crore. This initiative is recognized as one of the largest DBT programs globally, aimed at providing financial assistance to farmers and enhancing their income.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the central government is consistently working for the welfare of farmers and the development of the agricultural sector. Efforts are being made to boost farmers’ incomes by promoting technology and modern agricultural practices.
Under the PM Kisan scheme, eligible farmers receive an annual financial aid of ₹6,000, distributed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months directly into their bank accounts.
Beneficiary farmers can check their payment status on the official PM Kisan website after the release of the 23rd installment. They need to click on the ‘Know Your Status’ option available on the portal. Additionally, farmers can verify the deposit of ₹2,000 in their accounts by checking their bank statements or passbooks.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi also announced several significant development projects for West Bengal. These projects include initiatives related to railways, roads, fisheries, animal husbandry, and agriculture.
The Prime Minister inaugurated a new railway division, a railway hospital, a bridge connecting Howrah and Radhmohanpur, rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-III), a fishing harbor in Fraserganj, and a modern fish market in Birbhum.
Additionally, he launched several new schemes aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector, including the Digital Agriculture Mission, National Natural Farming Mission, and Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhan Yojana.
These initiatives are designed to promote the use of technology in agriculture, encourage natural farming, and enhance farmers’ productivity and income.
