
New Delhi, June 20: On the occasion of the Odisha government’s two-year anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a state-level event held in Mayurbhanj district’s Rairangpur on Saturday. He inaugurated and laid the foundation for various development projects worth over ₹47,600 crore. President Droupadi Murmu was also present at the event, which was themed “Vikas Ra Dhara, Odisha Sara.”
According to an official statement, the Prime Minister emphasized that the central government’s goal is to realize the dream of a “developed India through the development of Eastern India,” with Odisha emerging as a key center in this mission.
In a significant announcement, Modi stated that the village of Pahadpur will be developed as a solar energy-based model village, ensuring solar energy production in every household. He remarked that just as the Konark Sun Temple symbolizes Odisha, Pahadpur will serve as a model for solar-powered villages across the country in the future.
The Prime Minister noted that the central government’s “Purvodaya” policy is providing new direction to the vast potential of Eastern India. He shared that both the central and state governments are making record investments in railways, national highways, economic corridors, ports, energy, semiconductors, green energy, and modern industries. According to him, the new projects worth ₹47,600 crore will play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity, employment, public services, and living standards in the state.
As per the statement, Modi highlighted that the state government is continuously working to attract investments and expand industries. He mentioned the ‘Utkarsh Odisha’ initiative, which has received investment proposals amounting to approximately ₹20 lakh crore. Additionally, work is ongoing on several major projects worth over ₹35 lakh crore. He stated that these efforts will create new job opportunities and boost economic activities in the state.
The Prime Minister also revealed that over ₹6,000 crore is being invested in the development of the power sector in Odisha. Meanwhile, urban infrastructure is being strengthened through the ‘Samriddhi Nagar Yojana.’ He expressed confidence that these initiatives will yield significant benefits for the state in the coming years and positively impact the lives of its residents.
Modi emphasized that the development of tribal areas is a top priority for his government. He explained that under the ‘Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Utkarsh Campaign,’ essential services such as health, education, roads, and housing are being delivered to tribal villages. He also acknowledged President Droupadi Murmu’s long-standing contributions to tribal communities.
The Prime Minister mentioned that the PM Janman Mission has been specifically designed for particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs). The mission aims to ensure that the benefits of government schemes and services reach the most marginalized tribal communities directly.
