New Delhi, June 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the significant success of International Yoga Day. Celebrated worldwide on Sunday, he stated that yoga inspires individuals to lead a confident and positive life.
On Monday, PM Modi took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express, “The remarkable success of International Yoga Day is proof that yoga is not only making millions physically healthy around the globe but also motivating them to live positively with confidence.”
On this occasion, PM Modi shared a ‘Sanskrit Subhashitam,’ which states, “Chittapraśamanopāyo yoga ityabhidhīyate. Prāṇaspandanirodho vā dvedhā yogasya dhāraṇā.” This verse explains that the method to completely calm the mind is called ‘yoga.’ It outlines two approaches to achieve this goal: calming the mind and controlling the breath.
Notably, the 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated on Sunday. PM Modi led the national event from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, participating in a ‘Shared Yoga Session’ with thousands of yoga practitioners. While extending greetings to people worldwide on this occasion, he noted that June 21 is the longest day of the year in many parts of the world, and it has emerged as one of humanity’s largest collective celebrations through yoga.
The Prime Minister remarked on the inspiring images of yoga from various parts of the world. He said, “From the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean, and from Bengal and the Northeast to the western region of Saurashtra, the entire country seems energized by the spirit of yoga. It appears that the nation and the world are connected through a shared commitment to health and harmony, reflecting the unity that yoga embodies.”
PM Modi also praised the efforts of the people of Kolkata under the ‘Swachhata Se Swagat’ initiative. He acknowledged the dedication, hard work, and civic responsibility demonstrated by citizens in maintaining cleanliness, which has become an inspiration for people across the country.
