New Delhi, July 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Assam’s MPs on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing flood situation in the state. Central Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita were present during the meeting. The Prime Minister assured them of the central government’s full support and assistance.
PM Modi posted on X, “I met with Assam’s MPs to discuss the current flood situation in various parts of the state. The central government is working alongside the Assam government to assist affected individuals. I wish for the safety and good health of everyone.”
This meeting is crucial as Assam is grappling with severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall. Several districts have been affected, leading to widespread waterlogging and disruption of daily life.
Relief and rescue operations are ongoing in many flood-hit areas. Thousands of people have been displaced and are currently residing in relief camps set up by the state administration.
Both the central and Assam governments are making continuous efforts to mitigate the flood’s impact. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has reiterated his commitment to providing all possible assistance to the state.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and several central agencies are aiding the state administration in relief and rescue operations. These agencies are working to safely evacuate stranded individuals and deliver essential supplies.
The Assam government is providing food, drinking water, medicines, and other necessities to affected families. Additionally, efforts are underway to restore damaged roads, electricity, and communication services in flood-affected areas.
Officials are closely monitoring the condition of embankments and river water levels. Intermittent rainfall continues in several parts of the state, raising concerns about potential further flooding in vulnerable areas.
It is believed that the MPs informed the Prime Minister about the situation in flood-affected areas and the ongoing relief efforts. They have also requested continuous support from the central government for rescue, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts in the impacted districts.
The central government has once again stated that it will continue to provide all necessary assistance to the Assam government to ensure timely relief and rehabilitation for flood-affected individuals.
