Mumbai, August 28: NCP-SP spokesperson Naseem Siddiqui has expressed profound sorrow over the devastating floods in Nepal. He described the incident as tragic and emphasized that the people of India stand in solidarity with those affected in Nepal. Siddiqui urged the government to initiate a large-scale rescue operation to save missing individuals and provide every possible assistance to Nepal as a neighboring country.
He criticized the central government and the Supreme Court regarding political defections, stating, “Instead of calling them MPs, it would be better to refer to them as traitor MPs. They came to power on the votes of Mamata Banerjee but changed their allegiance under pressure from the CBI and greed for money, aligning themselves with the NDA. The Speaker should have acted on this sooner. We are witnessing an era of traitors. This is evident in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena and NCP; where are they receiving help from?”
Siddiqui accused the Speaker of bias and failing to perform his duties properly. He noted that actions are only being taken now that the matter is before the Supreme Court and a hearing is imminent. “This is a blatant violation of the law. The Speaker is not doing his job correctly, effectively aiding those who have aligned with the NDA. The public will teach them a lesson in the future,” he asserted.
He expressed respect for the Supreme Court, stating, “We hold the Supreme Court in high regard, but in the last few years since the BJP government took power, it seems to have deviated from its path. The questions posed and the answers given do not align. The Supreme Court acknowledged that the land belongs to the Babri Masjid, yet it has decided to allocate it for a temple.”
Siddiqui remarked that while justice is sometimes served in the Supreme Court, government interference often obstructs it. He fears that decisions may favor the traitors or become so prolonged that they lose relevance.
He concluded by reiterating his concerns about the Supreme Court’s impartiality, stating, “I am not the only one saying this; the entire world and media are echoing this sentiment. The Chief Justice’s comments regarding the Cockroach Public Party during ongoing protests indicated a disconnect. There seems to be a collusion between some judges of the Supreme Court and the government, leading to public skepticism about receiving justice.”
Regarding the disaster in Nepal, he reiterated the tragedy’s severity, stating, “The people of India fully empathize with the people of Nepal. The government should conduct a large-scale rescue operation to save those who can be rescued. All nations, especially India, should extend their support to Nepal, our neighboring country. In this situation, the opposition should also stand with the government on this issue.”
