New Delhi, July 28: The Special Staff of Dwarka district has apprehended a gang of interstate robbers. The arrested individuals hail from Loni, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) but targeted areas in Dwarka and its surrounding districts. Authorities recovered several tools used for theft and burglary from the suspects.
During their operations, the gang used a luxury car to mislead police during checks. The gang leader, Deepak, was wanted in a robbery case registered at the Dankaur police station in Gautam Buddh Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) in 2023. He was arrested by Ghaziabad police following an encounter. From Deepak, police seized a modern pistol and two cartridges, while accomplices Atul and Suhail were found with two single-shot pistols and two cartridges.
On the night of July 17-18, a PCR call was received at Dwarka North police station at 1:53 AM. The caller reported that an individual armed with a ‘kutta’ (a type of firearm) had entered a building, while another person waited outside in a car.
The caller overheard the building’s security guard, Dilip Kumar, shouting “Thief! Thief!” When he stepped outside, he noticed a masked individual entering the building’s staircase. Shortly after, the suspect exited and fled in a car parked outside their office. In his haste, he dropped an object resembling a weapon, which he picked up before escaping.
To capture the suspects, a special team was formed under the supervision of Dwarka ACP Operations Subhash Malik. Upon reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and nearby routes, the team identified that the suspects had used a ‘Kia’ car. They tracked the vehicle approximately 60 kilometers from Dwarka to Loni, monitoring its movements in both areas. Late on July 22-23, the same car was spotted near Dwarka, leading to the arrest of Deepak, Atul, and Sohail.
Upon investigation, all three were found in possession of illegal firearms. A bag was also discovered in the car, containing tools used for breaking and entering. An FIR has been filed against the suspects.
