Udaipur, October 30 (Daily Kiran): Bajaj Finance Ltd (BFL), India’s largest Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) in the private sector and part of Bajaj Finserv, conducted a cyber fraud awareness programme — ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’ — in Udaipur to educate digital users about online threats and financial safety practices.

The initiative is in line with the Reserve Bank of India’s 2024 guidelines on Fraud Risk Management for NBFCs, which highlight early fraud detection, staff accountability, and public awareness to strengthen the digital security ecosystem.

The programme aimed to draw citizens’ attention to common digital frauds, including fake social media accounts, fraudulent WhatsApp groups, and counterfeit websites impersonating financial companies or their employees.

Speaking at the event, Raghuveer Singh Kavia, Additional SP (Retd), Rajasthan, said,

“Most scams happen due to two main reasons — lack of understanding of our own devices and technology, and human greed to make quick money. One must stay alert and avoid falling for unrealistic investment schemes seen on social media. Sensitive information should always be kept private. If anyone becomes a victim of cybercrime, they must immediately report it on the 1930 helpline or contact the nearest cyber cell.”

He urged citizens to pause, think, and act responsibly while using digital platforms, emphasising that awareness is the first step toward prevention.

A spokesperson from Bajaj Finance Ltd added,

“The financial safety of our consumers is paramount. We continuously issue online and offline advisories through social media and on-ground engagements, encouraging people to stay cyber safe.”

The event saw the presence of experts including Amit Gayakwad, Abid Khan, faculty members from Government Meera College, and enthusiastic participation from students and local attendees.

Knockout Digital Fraud’ also shared practical safety tips such as avoiding sharing OTPs, PINs, or clicking on suspicious links, QR codes, emails, or messages, and refraining from downloading applications from unverified sources.

The programme includes a series of interactive workshops, awareness campaigns, and outreach initiatives across cities to strengthen digital literacy and promote a secure online environment.
