Mumbai, June 2: Arvind Sawant, a Member of Parliament from Shiv Sena (UBT), has sharply criticized the central government and the Education Minister over the NEET-UG paper leak and the CBSE evaluation controversy. He stated that this issue is extremely serious and called for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to take responsibility and resign immediately. Sawant emphasized that nearly 2.2 million students’ futures are jeopardized due to these irregularities, which is utterly unacceptable.
Sawant remarked that when such a large number of students’ exams and careers are at stake, the government’s responsibility increases significantly. He accused the authorities of failing to address ongoing issues within the examination system, despite the persistent reports of irregularities. According to him, this situation is causing immense mental and financial distress for students and their families.
He questioned which examinations in the country are being conducted fairly and correctly. The repeated incidents of paper leaks and irregularities highlight a significant failure of the system. Sawant insisted that merely conducting inquiries is insufficient; accountability must be established.
Congress MP Tariq Anwar also responded to the situation, labeling it as grave and concerning. He pointed out that irregularities and paper leaks have previously surfaced in the NEET exam, and similar allegations are now emerging regarding the CBSE examinations.
Anwar stated that if complaints about the education system continue to arise, it raises questions about the entire framework. He argued that when irregularities occur repeatedly across various examinations, accountability must be enforced.
He further urged the government to demonstrate accountability and for responsible officials to step down and assist in the investigations. Anwar believes that the Education Minister should resign due to the significant implications for students’ futures. However, he noted that the BJP has not traditionally embraced the practice of accepting responsibility.
