Pakistani Military Airstrikes in Balochistan Claim 12 Lives, Including Women and Children

Quetta, April 14: The Pakistani military’s actions in Balochistan have once again drawn significant attention. Local media reported that on Tuesday, airstrikes targeted a residential area in Barkhan province, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals, including women and children. Additionally, three others sustained serious injuries.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for separate attacks between April 8 and April 12, asserting that they killed eight Pakistani soldiers during this period.

Reports indicate that unidentified armed individuals launched an attack on the Pakistani military, leading to the deaths of 12 security personnel.

In response to the attacks, the Pakistani military reportedly initiated a large-scale operation in residential areas, which resulted in further casualties. Victims ranged from a 70-year-old man to a 2-year-old child.

Sources also revealed that during the operation, several bodies were found inside a vehicle that was subsequently set ablaze. However, this claim has not been officially confirmed.

Criticizing the military’s actions, Tara Chand, president of the Baloch American Congress, expressed his condemnation on social media platform X, stating, “We strongly denounce this act and believe that any military involved in harming innocent civilians should feel deeply ashamed.”

As of now, there has been no official statement from the Pakistani military regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the BLA has reiterated its claims, stating that its fighters targeted Pakistani military forces, including Frontier Corps personnel, as well as police posts in Awaran, Dasht, Quetta, and Chagai. They also attacked communication infrastructure in Barkhan, Zhao, and Mashke.

In a statement, BLA spokesperson Major Gwaharim Baloch mentioned that their fighters ambushed a convoy of eight military vehicles in the Ahorai area of Awaran, using rocket launchers and automatic weapons to disrupt their movement.

The statement concluded, “In this attack, three military vehicles were destroyed, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers on the spot and four others sustaining serious injuries.”
