Lucknow, August 1: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has made significant strides in enhancing the health security of teachers and non-teaching staff. The Chief Minister’s Cashless Medical Scheme for teachers has achieved remarkable progress, with approximately 42% of eligible teachers completing their e-KYC in just 22 days since its launch on July 8 in Varanasi.
Following this, the scheme was extended to the higher education department on July 26, where nearly 47% of eligible beneficiaries completed their e-KYC within just four days. Once the e-KYC process is completed, beneficiaries will have access to cashless treatment at listed hospitals.
During the winter session of the assembly on February 20, 2026, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the provision of cashless medical facilities for teachers and non-teaching staff. Subsequently, the state government efficiently prepared the scheme’s framework, portal, and a list of hospitals.
In a swift move, the Chief Minister launched the scheme for the basic and secondary education departments on July 8, just 138 days after the announcement. The higher education department was included shortly after, on July 26. This rapid progress is a testament to the effective implementation of the scheme and ongoing monitoring at the government level.
Out of a total of 12,89,018 eligible teachers and staff across all three education departments, 5,40,878 have completed their e-KYC and are now part of the Chief Minister’s Cashless Medical Scheme. The initiative aims to provide robust health security for the education community in the state, which is why the government is implementing it in mission mode to enroll as many eligible beneficiaries as possible in a short time.
In the basic education department, 11,03,464 eligible teachers and staff are included in the scheme, with 4,57,390 having completed their e-KYC so far. Regular reviews of the campaign are being conducted at the district level to ensure that all eligible teachers, non-teaching staff, and their dependents are enrolled in a timely manner.
In the secondary education department, out of 1,47,543 eligible beneficiaries, 65,754 have completed their e-KYC. Department officials have been instructed to monitor progress at the institutional level and ensure 100% registration of eligible beneficiaries.
Following the inclusion of the higher education department on July 26, the campaign has gained momentum. Within just four days, 17,734 out of 38,011 eligible beneficiaries completed their e-KYC, representing nearly 47% of the total eligible beneficiaries, indicating a growing engagement with the scheme. Director General of School Education, Monica Rani, stated that continuous reviews are being conducted at both the departmental and government levels for effective implementation.
All districts and educational institutions have been directed to ensure that the e-KYC for every eligible teacher, non-teaching staff, and their dependents is completed in a timely manner. Once the e-KYC is finalized, beneficiaries will be able to access cashless treatment at listed hospitals.
