Gujarat Minister Urges Students to Embrace Lifelong Learning Beyond Exams

Ahmedabad, August 24: Gujarat’s Minister of Science and Technology, Arjun Modhwadia, emphasized the importance of lifelong learning during the closing ceremony of the three-day ‘Space Festival 2026’ held in Ahmedabad. He stated that merely passing exams should not be the sole measure of success. Instead, he encouraged students to integrate continuous learning into their lives.

Speaking at the festival, which celebrated National Space Day from August 21 to 23 at Gujarat Science City, Modhwadia urged youth to focus on mastering their fields rather than just aiming for good exam results. “Success is not defined by passing exams. True achievement lies in excelling in science, commerce, arts, sports, or culture,” he remarked.

The minister highlighted the need for students to cultivate a habit of ongoing learning and to seek knowledge in new subjects. He referenced renowned scientists like Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. Homi Bhabha, and Dr. Satish Dhawan, who made significant contributions to the country through their dedication to learning and research.

Modhwadia also pointed out the evolving nature of warfare and the increasing significance of technology in national security. “Traditionally, warfare relied on conventional weapons and soldiers, but now cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, drones, and other advanced technologies are becoming crucial,” he noted. He stressed that the new generation must master technology to contribute to the nation’s security and development.

He extended his best wishes to students aspiring to build careers in cybersecurity and related fields. Referring to Gujarat’s scientific institutions, he mentioned that Ahmedabad became a vital center for space research due to Dr. Vikram Sarabhai’s contributions. He highlighted the presence of institutions like the Space Applications Centre, Physical Research Laboratory, Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre, and the Institute of Seismological Research in the state.

Modhwadia stated that emerging sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and space technology are creating new opportunities for Gujarat’s youth. He concluded by saying, “The developed India of 2047 will be shaped by today’s students.” He called on the younger generation to contribute to building a self-reliant, secure, and developed nation through knowledge, science, technology, and innovation.

During the closing ceremony, winners of the rangoli competition were awarded prizes, and certificates were given to institutions, startups, and other participants for their contributions to the festival.
