Over 250 Million People Lifted Out of Poverty Under PM Modis Leadership, Says Central Cabinet

New Delhi, June 10: The Central Cabinet passed a significant resolution on Wednesday, marking a historic milestone in India’s democratic journey. It praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister, surpassing the previous record held by Jawaharlal Nehru. Modi has served for 4,399 consecutive days since taking office, compared to Nehru’s 4,398 days from 1952 to 1964. The resolution emphasizes that this occasion symbolizes India’s democratic consciousness, public trust, and the power of citizen participation, reflecting the unprecedented support Modi has received as a leader inspired by the ‘Nation First’ pledge.

The proposal congratulated Prime Minister Modi, highlighting that this achievement coincides with the NDA government’s 12 years in power. It also noted that he is nearing a historic milestone of 25 years of service as the head of government. The official document expressed pride in Modi’s leadership, characterized by sensitivity, restraint, good intentions, and decisiveness. It emphasized that the NDA government has received a mandate for a third consecutive term after six decades.

The document portrays Modi’s life as a symbol of dedication to service and nation-building. It recalls his 2014 declaration as the Prime Servant, committed to the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Together with all, Development for all). It acknowledges that the welfare of the poor has been central to governance, detailing extensive provisions such as housing, electricity, clean water, and Direct Benefit Transfers. More than 80 crore citizens have received free rations, and over 60 crore impoverished individuals have benefited from free medical treatment. These efforts have collectively boosted national confidence and helped over 250 million people escape poverty.

The proposal also outlines the empowerment of key demographics, recognizing the focus on youth that has established India as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem and a scientific power through initiatives like ‘Mission Chandrayaan.’

A new chapter of ‘Women-led Development’ is illustrated through various comprehensive policies, including smoke-free kitchens and the ‘Lakshmi Didis’ campaign, as well as a historic 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies. The document praises initiatives like the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and the provision of Kisan Credit Cards to livestock and fish farmers, which have contributed to agricultural exports exceeding ₹5 lakh crore.

The proposal commends the decisive spirit of ‘Nation First’ in implementing long-pending reforms, including the abrogation of Article 370, the introduction of GST, and the consolidation of the CAA law, Indian Justice Code, and Labor Code. It emphasizes strengthening national security, evidenced by stringent actions against terrorism, such as surgical and cross-border airstrikes, ‘Operation Sindoor,’ and the suspension of the unjust Indus Water Treaty. Notable progress has also been made in eradicating Naxalism, signing permanent peace agreements in the Northeast, and resolving border disputes with Bangladesh.

The proposal credits the momentum gained from the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaigns for advancements in India’s manufacturing capabilities across sectors, from defense to AI. It highlights India’s growing global role through successful G-20 presidency, International Yoga Day, the International Solar Alliance, and ‘Mission Life.’ The document references the new Parliament building and Duty Path as symbols of cultural renaissance, inspired by the spirit of public participation, which has successfully addressed global crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.

The political stability, dynamic governance, and visionary policies over the past 12 years have made India the world’s fastest-growing major economy. The Central Cabinet officially adopted the following proposal to express deep gratitude and commitment for the future.

The formal proposal adopted by the Central Cabinet congratulates Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this historic achievement. It expresses gratitude for his leadership in welfare initiatives for the poor and the empowerment of marginalized communities. The proposal appreciates the policies that have enabled over 250 million people in India to overcome poverty under his leadership.
