Chinas Economy Shows Resilience in Q3 with Growth in Consumption and Investment

Beijing, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : China’s economy continues to show resilience, as highlighted by recent data from the National Development and Reform Commission. In the third quarter of 2026, key indicators related to consumption, foreign trade, and investment reflect positive trends, indicating steady progress despite various challenges.

In terms of consumption, the total offline payment amount increased by 2.6% compared to the same period last year. This marks a 0.7% rise from the previous quarter. Notably, in September, offline payments surged by 3.1% year-on-year, exceeding August’s growth by 0.5%. This consistent increase over three consecutive months suggests a gradual strengthening of consumer activity in the market.

Foreign trade figures also paint an optimistic picture. The weight of cargo ships departing and arriving at major ports rose by 43.1% and 0.3% respectively in the third quarter, compared to the same period last year. These figures represent increases of 43.0% and 0.7% from the previous quarter. In September alone, there were year-on-year increases of 53.2% and 4.5% in these metrics. Despite complex international conditions, China’s foreign trade remains active, reflecting the country’s robust commercial activities and economic capacity on the global stage.

Investment trends are equally encouraging. In September, the issuance of new special bonds nationwide rose by 50.2% compared to the same period last year, marking a 43.6% increase from August. Additionally, the total value of tenders for new infrastructure projects related to computing capacity, data, and networks grew by 34.2% year-on-year in the third quarter. Investment in advanced sectors such as artificial intelligence and humanoid robotics soared by an impressive 184.1% during the same period compared to last year.

These developments underscore China’s ongoing economic advancement and efforts to maintain stability while enhancing the quality of growth.
