Global Mayors Dialogue Kicks Off in Luoyang, China, Featuring Representatives from Over 10 Countries

Luoyang, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Global Mayors Dialogue, guided by the Chinese State Council Information Office, commenced in Luoyang, Henan Province, from October 11 to 13. This year’s theme focused on “Promoting the Cultural Heritage of Ancient Capitals and Enhancing Mutual Exchange Among Urban Civilizations.”

More than 90 mayors, their representatives, international organization officials, and scholars from countries including China, the UK, Italy, Argentina, and Algeria participated in the event. Discussions centered on cultural heritage preservation, industrial development, and urban renewal.

The program featured a main dialogue and three thematic sessions. Additionally, attendees toured various manufacturing industries in Luoyang, observing China’s advancements in smart manufacturing and innovations that drive industrial growth.

Roberto Di Stefano, the mayor of Sesto San Giovanni in Italy, remarked on China’s impressive industrial chain strength. He expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in manufacturing and tourism while addressing challenges in industrial development.

Guests explored modern production lines alongside ancient historical sites. They visited the Luoyang Museum, the Sui-Tang City, and the ancient city of Luoyang, examining efforts in cultural heritage preservation and revitalization. At the Longmen Grottoes, discussions revolved around the restoration of cultural heritage, digital preservation, and tourism development potential.

Julio Zamora, the mayor of Tigre Partido in Argentina, noted that Luoyang effectively balances the preservation of historical heritage with its modern urban development. He highlighted the city as a model for others seeking to integrate ancient civilization with contemporary growth.

The event was organized by the Luoyang municipal government and the Information Office of the Henan provincial government. During the program, the “Luoyang Consensus on Urban Civilization” was released, alongside activities promoting intangible cultural heritage and mutual exchange.

Luoyang also discussed enhancing friendly city relations, industrial cooperation, and cultural and tourism connections with cities from various countries. The goal is to turn the agreements reached during the dialogue into practical collaborations.
