Oppositions Confidence Erodes Amidst Continuous Election Losses, Says Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi, August 19: The ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament has faced disruptions due to persistent uproar from the opposition, preventing several crucial issues from being addressed. Under the leadership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, opposition leaders have obstructed the proceedings in the Lok Sabha. Central Minister Kiren Rijiju commented that the opposition’s continuous election defeats have led to their current state of despair, resulting in their disruptive behavior during the session.

In a special interview in New Delhi, Rijiju noted that the opposition appears fragmented and lacks confidence. When they fail to secure electoral victories, they express their frustration in Parliament.

Regarding the controversy surrounding “Vande Mataram” at the Congress headquarters, Rijiju emphasized that there is a law regarding this national song. It does not belong to any specific party or religion; it is a national anthem that every Indian should sing and respect.

He also expressed disapproval of comments made about Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in the presence of Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition and Congress MP. Rijiju stated that the Prime Minister of the country represents everyone. Even if elected from a particular party, the Prime Minister is for the entire nation. Mocking the Prime Minister tarnishes the country’s reputation.

On the special privilege notice issued to Rahul Gandhi, Rijiju explained that such notices are issued when rules are violated, in accordance with established procedures.

Addressing the term “intellectual Naxal,” Rijiju clarified that Prime Minister Narendra Modi used this term for individuals who act against the Constitution. The armed Naxal threat has been nearly eradicated. Our soldiers from the Army, BSF, ITBP, and CRPF often fall victim to Naxalite and Maoist violence. It is well-known that some associated with Maoist ideology celebrate the deaths of our soldiers, and there should be no confusion about this.

Responding to the opposition’s questions about Home Minister Amit Shah’s attendance in the House, Rijiju stated that the Home Minister used to be present in Parliament from morning until night. He cannot be present amidst the chaos created by the opposition, which has merely spread rumors.
