New Delhi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt Rosh Hashanah greetings to their Israeli counterparts and the people of Israel on Saturday.
In a post on the social media platform X, President Murmu conveyed her wishes to Israeli President Isaac Herzog and the Israeli populace. She stated, “On behalf of the people of India, I wish you and all of Israel, as well as the Jewish community worldwide, a heartfelt Rosh Hashanah. May the new year bring peace, prosperity, good health, and new hope for all.”
Rosh Hashanah marks the Jewish New Year, referred to as the “head of the year,” and celebrates the anniversary of the world’s creation. Prime Minister Modi also sent his best wishes to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the people of Israel, and the global Jewish community.
On X, PM Modi wrote, “Shana Tova! Wishing Prime Minister Netanyahu, the people of Israel, and the Jewish community worldwide a heartfelt Rosh Hashanah. May the new year be filled with peace, hope, good health, and continuous progress.”
Additionally, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar extended his Rosh Hashanah greetings to Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Sa’ar, stating on X, “Warm wishes to Foreign Minister Gidon Sa’ar, the government, and people of Israel on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah. May the new year bring peace, prosperity, good health, and happiness. Shana Tova!”
Earlier last month, Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, highlighted the unique and special nature of India-Israel relations, citing several fundamental values that strengthen the ties between the two nations. He emphasized that the relationship is characterized by “civilizational resilience and national renaissance,” noting that both countries have faced foreign invasions throughout history. Despite attempts to erase their identities, both civilizations have persevered, a shared characteristic that binds them.
