Churachandpur, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Manipur’s Chief Secretary, Rajiv Singh Thakur, conducted a review of various government schemes and development programs in Churachandpur on Saturday. The meeting took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, attended by district-level officials.
During the session, representatives from various departments presented updates on their achievements, ongoing initiatives, and challenges faced. Key topics included health services, livelihood enhancement, the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons, and relief measures.
Following the meeting, Thakur engaged with representatives from various civil society organizations, listening to their suggestions and concerns.
He later visited the pre-fabricated relief camp in Bethlehem and the Lingsifai Lanwa TD Block relief camp. There, he met with displaced individuals, addressing their issues and assuring them of all possible support.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar (IAS) reported that the district administration is regularly organizing health camps in all relief centers. Individuals requiring continuous medical care were advised to inform the respective sub-divisional officer to ensure they receive necessary medical assistance.
Kumar also noted that enrollment campaigns for the Ayushman Bharat and Chief Minister-gi Hakshaklgi Tengbang cards are underway in all relief camps. Displaced individuals without these cards were encouraged to contact the district administration for registration through the district hospital.
Currently, there are 19 relief camps in Churachandpur, housing 5,195 internally displaced persons. Additionally, 10,214 non-camp beneficiaries are receiving assistance through direct benefit transfers.
The departmental review meeting featured presentations covering various sectors, including health, rural development, livelihood enhancement, education, e-governance, rehabilitation, skill development, and infrastructure.
Thakur emphasized that livelihood and skill development programs should not only benefit displaced individuals but also the local population. He instructed the administration to extend skill training programs offered to displaced persons to local youth, creating new employment opportunities.
He also stressed the importance of promoting e-governance, commending the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur for utilizing the e-office system and directing all departments to integrate with it.
The Chief Secretary was accompanied during his visits to the relief camps by the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, District Forest Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, ASP (Law and Order), sub-divisional officer, and various departmental officials.
