
New Delhi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted an extravagant BRICS gala dinner on September 12, 2026, at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event welcomed heads of state, delegations, and distinguished guests from BRICS nations, celebrating India’s rich culinary heritage.
The evening commenced with a selection of starters, including Khandvi, a steamed gram flour dish, presented with a tempering of mustard seeds, coconut, and curry leaves, garnished with saffron mango, microgreens, and yogurt dressing. Guests also enjoyed Khumb Galouti, lightly grilled mushroom kebabs served with mint pearls and Sheermal bread.
The main course showcased the diversity of Indian cuisine. The menu featured Paneer Lababdar, Gucchi Marmik—a dish made from Himalayan morel mushrooms and asparagus cooked with saffron, raisins, and Mamra almonds—along with Carrot Bean Poriyal, Thakkali Bele Saru, a light South Indian soup made from pigeon peas and tomatoes, millet pulao, beetroot raita, and a variety of Indian breads.
For dessert, guests were treated to Old Delhi Fruit Cream with Jalebi, inspired by the flavors of Old Delhi, featuring seasonal fruits and crispy jalebi with light whipped cream. Additionally, they enjoyed Shahi Tukda Firni, prepared slowly with milk and rice, adorned with sweet mulberries and gold leaf.
Through the BRICS gala dinner, India showcased its rich culinary legacy, its initiative to promote millets, and a unique fusion of traditional cuisines from various states. This event was a highlight of the cultural and diplomatic hosting on the first day of the 18th BRICS summit.
