Lucknow, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : The recent remarks by Uttar Pradesh Minister O.P. Rajbhar, suggesting the division of the state into four parts, have sparked significant backlash from opposition leaders. Both the Samajwadi Party and Congress have voiced strong objections to his statement.
In Delhi, Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman criticized Rajbhar, stating, “Some individuals are mentally disturbed, and a few jesters have joined the party. He has already declared his son as the Chief Minister.” Suman emphasized that demands for state divisions and the creation of new states are emerging across the country, advocating for the establishment of a State Reorganization Commission. However, he believes discussing the division of Uttar Pradesh at this time is unjustified.
In Lucknow, Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput launched a fierce attack on Rajbhar’s comments, suggesting he is in dire need of treatment. Rajput accused Rajbhar of betrayal, pointing out that he had previously allied with the Samajwadi Party before joining forces with the BJP. He recalled Rajbhar’s promises to create job opportunities for high school graduates and implement a three-tier reservation system, questioning whether these commitments have been fulfilled.
Rajput stated, “O.P. Rajbhar has betrayed his community. Now that elections are approaching, he is worried about how he will respond to the society.”
Congress leader Aasim Waqaar also weighed in, urging Rajbhar to focus on the development of his own constituency before making claims about the entire state. “If he believes he has developed Zahoorabad, he should contest elections from there. According to Rajbhar, the Rajbhar community consists only of Arvind Rajbhar, Arun Rajbhar, and O.P. Rajbhar,” he remarked. Waqaar asserted that the Rajbhar community is vast and deserves answers from Rajbhar about what he has done for them.
On Monday, O.P. Rajbhar stated, “Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in the country, and given its vast population, division is inevitable sooner or later. When Uttar Pradesh is divided into four parts, it will be determined based on the population of Purvanchal that the first Chief Minister from our alliance will be my son.”
Tensions are rising as the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh heats up ahead of the upcoming elections.
