Lucknow, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : In Lucknow, Aditya Shukla, the State General Secretary of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and a student leader from Gorakhpur University, has launched a campaign urging the Uttar Pradesh government to resume student union elections. A poster displayed at the Congress state office highlights the issue, criticizing the government for its stance.
Shukla remarked, “We have put up a poster questioning the duality in behavior: ‘While student unions are locked in UP, congratulations are given in Delhi when ABVP wins.’ This raises a critical question for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath: Why is there fear surrounding student union elections in Uttar Pradesh?”
He emphasized the pressing concern of millions of students, asking why elections for student unions have not been reinstated. “The Gen-Z is also pushing for these elections. Student unions are a breeding ground for future leaders; why should ordinary students be excluded from student politics? This has made political participation costly,” he stated.
Shukla further pointed out that with 65% of the population being youth, it is essential for them to have representation. “If young people are being promoted in every field, why are they being sidelined in politics? Our clear demand is to restore student union elections, providing a platform for young leaders to emerge and fight for their rights,” he concluded.
