Tehran, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian asserted on Tuesday that the use of force cannot compel people to surrender. His remarks came before departing for New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly.
Pajeshkian stated that he would raise the concerns of the Iranian people, including grievances and the distrust that has arisen from various events, during his address at the UN. Iranian state media reported on his comments.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Pajeshkian described the UN General Assembly as an opportunity for Iran to clarify its position on the international stage and to present the realities of the region and the voice of the Iranian people. He noted that Iran has engaged in negotiations multiple times, only to see agreements and commitments subsequently ignored.
“We have gone to the negotiating table and signed agreements, but unfortunately, the entire world has witnessed how commitments have been neglected and written agreements violated,” he said.
The president emphasized that no country or its people should be forced to yield through the use of force. “People cannot be compelled to surrender through power,” he added.
Pajeshkian referenced ongoing events in Gaza, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, and Iran, stating that these situations reveal many realities to the world.
He accused Iran’s adversaries of attempting to exert pressure through various means. After failing to achieve their goals militarily, they are now resorting to alternative methods.
“They are trying to disrupt land and air routes to pressure Iran. Additionally, they are promoting internal divisions, utilizing media and ethnic groups, and exploiting the country’s weaknesses,” he stated.
According to Pajeshkian, these efforts aim to weaken Iran from within and force its people to submit to external demands. He assured that Iran would firmly maintain its position on the international stage and present the damages suffered by its people and the events in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also arrived in New York. This visit is viewed as a crucial opportunity for Iran to present its stance amid the current regional crisis.
