New Delhi, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has issued a crucial advisory for Indian citizens, urging them not to misuse the 30-day visa-free entry into Malaysia for job hunting. This warning comes as there has been a notable increase in the number of Indians traveling to Malaysia seeking employment under this visa exemption.
The embassy cautioned that misusing this entry could lead to several serious issues, including overstaying, being classified as an illegal immigrant, exploitation, detention, and facing legal action. It emphasized that the visa-free facility is strictly for tourism and social visits.
Indian travelers are advised to adhere strictly to the conditions of their stay and to refrain from accepting employment while on a tourist visa. The advisory also highlighted the risks posed by dubious agents promising fake job opportunities, which can lead to individuals overstaying their visa and encountering legal troubles.
Furthermore, the embassy clarified that seeking employment through the visa-free entry violates Malaysia’s immigration laws. This facility is intended solely for tourism, and Indian passport holders must possess valid travel documents to avoid immigration issues upon arrival. This includes confirmed return tickets, hotel bookings, and proof of an online Malaysia Digital Arrival Card submitted at least three days prior to arrival.
Travelers are also reminded to ensure their passports have a minimum of six months’ validity remaining. The embassy reiterated that Indian citizens should not travel to Malaysia for employment purposes without a work permit or Visa with Reference (VDR).
This advisory has been issued in response to rising concerns regarding Indian citizens being lured to Malaysia with false job offers, subsequently finding themselves in violation of immigration regulations. The embassy urged those seeking jobs to obtain the necessary legal permissions and documentation before traveling.
