Jamui, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : In a recent statement, Pappu Yadav, a Member of Parliament from Purnia, voiced strong criticism against the Bihar administration regarding a harassment incident involving a student in Jamui district. Speaking to the media, Yadav highlighted the pressing issue of women’s safety in the region.
He remarked, “The accused continued to harass the student while bystanders remained silent. Society is not willing to fight for our daughters. Politicians are only interested in discussing issues that serve their political agendas, knowing that this case will fade from memory in just two days. This incident occurred on the 19th, yet for the administration, such matters seem insignificant.”
Yadav further accused the administration of prioritizing the suppression of opposition voices over public safety. He pointed out the entangled interests of land, sand, and liquor mafias, suggesting that officials are more focused on financial gain than on protecting citizens. “Ten individuals harassed a girl, yet the Chief Minister often makes lofty speeches. It’s time for him to resign,” he added.
Congress leader Rakesh Sinha also condemned the incident, calling it horrific and stating that mere condemnation is insufficient to address its severity. He insisted that ministers downplaying such events should be dismissed immediately.
Congress MP Manoj Kumar expressed that the incident has shamed humanity. He emphasized that no amount of condemnation is enough and criticized prominent Bihar leaders who trivialize such occurrences. “That girl was our daughter, part of Bihar and India. The governance and administration in Bihar have utterly failed,” he stated.
The collective outrage from political leaders reflects a growing concern over women’s safety and the need for accountability in Bihar.
