New Delhi, July 21: During the monsoon session of Parliament, opposition MPs accused the central government of obstructing the functioning of the House. Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad stated that the opposition desires a smooth operation of Parliament, as it serves as a platform for discussing critical national issues, public grievances, national security, and constitutional matters.
Awadhesh Prasad emphasized that the opposition supports the continuation of parliamentary proceedings. However, he alleged that the government is unwilling to engage in discussions on significant topics. He claimed that the government lacks both the desire and will to ensure the smooth functioning of the House, often creating disturbances with various issues.
Regarding the protests by the youth, Awadhesh Prasad made serious allegations against the government. He noted that thousands of young people gathered at Jantar Mantar to voice their concerns, but instead of listening, they were met with police force. This resulted in injuries to several individuals, including opposition MPs. He described this as an example of the government’s alleged authoritarianism.
On the NEET issue, Congress MP Mallu Ravi mentioned that the youth have a singular demand: the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Since this demand remains unaddressed, they intended to continue their protests and march towards Parliament. He criticized the government’s response to the situation.
Mallu Ravi stated that the Congress party and other opposition groups sought answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, or at least the Parliamentary Affairs Minister on two pressing issues: the paper leak and the alleged donation theft at the Ram Temple. These are sensitive matters, and the public expects responses either through the media or in Parliament. If the government addresses these questions in Parliament, it would clarify its stance to the entire nation and the world.
Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat supported Rahul Gandhi regarding the NEET exam controversy. He noted that Rahul Gandhi has consistently raised the NEET issue both inside and outside Parliament for the past two years. People are beginning to realize that Rahul Gandhi’s concerns were valid, which has led to growing discontent among the youth.
On the Vande Mataram Bill, the Congress MP argued that meaningful discussions should precede any legislation. He accused the government of rushing to vote on bills immediately after presenting them, which he claimed is not in line with democratic traditions. The opposition has called for comprehensive discussions on all significant topics in Parliament.
