Jalandhar, May 6: Following recent explosions in Amritsar and Jalandhar, opposition leaders have launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. They claim that Mann has failed to maintain law and order in the state. While blasts continue to occur, Mann appears more focused on blaming the BJP than addressing the security concerns at hand.
Punjab BJP Vice President Fateh Jung Bajwa criticized Mann’s approach and statements, urging him to recognize the seriousness of the situation. He emphasized that the government must avoid making political accusations without substantial evidence. Bajwa expressed that the ongoing explosive incidents are a significant concern, and the public deserves to know what security agencies are doing to address these threats.
He also insisted that if the government possesses any evidence regarding these incidents, it should be made public rather than limited to political rhetoric. Bajwa questioned the effectiveness of police actions following the recent blasts at various locations.
BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill echoed these sentiments, labeling the frequent explosive incidents as alarming and indicative of the government’s failures. He noted that the rising crime atmosphere is instilling fear among the public, with daily reports of murders, grenade attacks, and violent incidents showcasing a deteriorating situation.
Shergill accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of worsening conditions in Punjab, stating that law and order has weakened. He criticized the government for prioritizing political maneuvering over public safety. If the current situation persists, he warned that public trust in law enforcement could erode.
He further alleged that the government is more focused on political responses than addressing the opposition’s concerns seriously. Whenever a significant incident occurs, the government quickly shifts blame to the opposition or other parties, neglecting the core issues of security and investigation.
Shergill argued that instead of strengthening police and administrative capabilities, they are being used for political purposes, emboldening criminals. He believes that if law enforcement concentrated on preventing crime, such incidents could be reduced.
He called for a fair investigation into these events to uncover the individuals behind them and their motives. Shergill concluded that if the government genuinely wants to improve the situation, it must move beyond accusations and focus on actionable solutions. The public is now demanding concrete measures, not just statements. Given the current climate in Punjab, he suggested that President’s Rule may be necessary.
