
Bratislava, June 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Slovak President Peter Pellegrini during their meeting on Tuesday. He described Pellegrini’s insights as inspirational and valuable, expressing his pleasure in reconnecting.
On the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “It was a pleasure meeting you, President Pellegrini. I am glad we could continue our important discussions from our previous meeting. Your understanding and thoughts are always very inspiring and precious.”
PM Modi also shared a post from President Pellegrini that emphasized the strong relationship between the two leaders. Pellegrini noted, “I am pleased that we can continue the open and friendly dialogue that began during my visit to New Delhi in February.”
Additionally, PM Modi met Dr. Robert Gafrik, who has been translating the Upanishads into Slovak. Sharing photos from their meeting, he wrote, “Yesterday evening in Bratislava, I met Dr. Robert Gafrik, who is leading the effort to translate the Upanishads into Slovak. His passion for Indian history, culture, and spirituality is commendable.”
Both leaders exchanged gifts and attended an art exhibition together. In his post, PM Modi highlighted the connection between Bratislava and Varanasi, stating, “A connection to Varanasi in Bratislava! Yesterday at the Presidential Palace, President Pellegrini and I viewed an intriguing exhibition based on Varanasi, featuring works by Slovak artists who recently visited the city. Art and culture truly have a unique ability to bring people closer together. I wish all the artists whose work was displayed great success.”
Earlier on June 15, PM Modi and President Pellegrini discussed various topics during their talks at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava. PM Modi noted on X, “In today’s conversation with President Pellegrini, we discussed various subjects, including manufacturing, transport, innovation, investment linkages, energy, biofuels, and more. There is also significant potential for collaboration in digital technology. We talked about deepening ties between our people.”
The two leaders engaged in delegation-level discussions, attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the leaders welcomed the growing partnership between India and Slovakia in areas such as digitalization, innovation, defense, space, nuclear energy, and education. The ministry stated, “Both leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in various sectors and advancing the good and friendly relations between our countries.”
