Uddhav Thackeray Calls Meeting of Legislators on June 22

Mumbai, June 16: Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), has summoned a meeting of legislators following a recent gathering of MPs. The meeting is scheduled for June 22 at 4 PM at the party office.

In a letter from Chief Whip Sunil Prabhu and MLC Anil Parab, it was stated, “A meeting of all members of the Shiv Sena (UBT) legislative group (both Assembly and Council) has been called for June 22 at 4:00 PM at ‘Shivalay’ located in front of the Ministry in Mumbai. Party chief Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray will provide guidance during this meeting. You are requested to be present on time.”

On Sunday, Thackeray had convened a meeting of MPs. Among the nine Lok Sabha members, Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Rajabhau Waje, and Sanjay Patil attended in person. Sanjay Raut reported that Omprakash Rajee Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchoure, Nagesh Bapurav Patil Ashtikar, and Sanjay Deshmukh participated online, while Sanjay Jadhav spoke with Thackeray over the phone. Currently, Shiv Sena UBT has nine MPs and 19 MLAs.

On June 12, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) claimed that politics in the country has now been reduced to mere self-serving deals. An editorial published in the party’s mouthpiece, ‘Saamana’, titled “The Rise of Opportunistic Leaders” argued that voters cast their ballots based on a specific party’s symbol and ideology, expecting proper representation. However, political opportunists, driven by personal gain, swiftly switch parties. These leaders and their followers often make their way to Delhi.

The editorial further contended that just as various types of grapes and mangoes have been developed, new breeds of unstable leaders have emerged. Leading this new breed is ‘Sayani Ghosh’. During the election campaign, Ghosh made a name for herself with her sharp and passionate speeches. She created an image of ‘Mini-Mamata’, targeting the BJP at every rally and considering Mamata Banerjee as her mother. As rifts began to form among TMC MPs, few expected Ghosh to be on that list.
