Jaipur, October 16 (Daily Kiran): Under Operation Garudvyuh, launched to curb illegal drug trafficking in the district, Kota Police achieved a major success by seizing 316.69 kg of opium doda chura worth approximately ₹47.5 lakh. The police also confiscated a luxury Tata Harrier SUV used for smuggling.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam, with supervision by Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma and leadership of Station House Officer Mahendra Maru of RK Puram Police Station.
Smugglers Open Fire, Flee Into Forest
On the night of October 15, police set up a checkpoint near Borawas on the Rawatbhata–Kota Highway. A Tata Harrier approaching from the Rawatbhata side suddenly turned back after spotting the barricade. When officers tried to intercept the vehicle, the driver steered the car into a roadside drain and the smugglers opened fire on the police team before escaping under the cover of darkness into the Borawas forest area.
Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and sections related to attempt to murder. The investigation has been handed over to Ranpur Police Station.
Smuggling Modus Operandi: Fake Number Plates and Luxury Cars
Upon searching the car, police found 18 plastic sacks filled with doda chura. The investigation revealed that the traffickers used luxury vehicles like the Tata Harrier to evade suspicion and frequently changed fake number plates every few kilometers to avoid detection. Police recovered six fake number plates from the seized vehicle.
Teams have launched an intensive search operation in the Borawas forest to trace and arrest the absconding smugglers.
