Patna, March 29: Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar announced that BJP National President Nitin Nawin was set to resign from his legislative position following his election to the Rajya Sabha. However, despite all preparations, the resignation did not occur as planned.
Kumar revealed that he received information from State President Sanjay Sarawagi on Saturday, indicating that Nawin would resign on Sunday. Kumar returned from a trip to Delhi the previous night to be present for this event. However, unexpected news emerged that Nawin had to travel to Dibrugarh, Assam, for a meeting, which coincided with the election process. This unforeseen circumstance prevented his resignation today.
Prem Kumar expressed hope that Nawin’s resignation would be submitted soon. He mentioned that there is a 14-day provision, with a deadline of March 30, for Nawin to resign. As today is March 29, there is still time, and he urged the public to remain patient. He clarified that according to the assembly’s rules, resignations must be submitted in person, and Nawin would comply with this requirement. Further updates will be provided once the resignation is finalized.
Meanwhile, there are also reports suggesting that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may resign on March 30. In response, Prem Kumar stated that he has no information on this matter and that accurate details could only be obtained from the CM’s secretariat. He acknowledged the media speculation regarding the CM’s resignation but confirmed that he has not received any clear information.
