Sunam, June 12: Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has announced a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing development across the state. He has decided to hold regular review meetings to monitor progress, with officials conducting weekly assessments while he will evaluate advancements bi-weekly.
Cheema mentioned that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will visit various towns to engage with local traders and business owners. To address the issues faced by the business community, a Traders’ Commission has been established, which will work towards resolving their concerns.
The minister noted that several projects are currently incomplete. He has issued strict directives to expedite the completion of these tasks. Failure to comply will result in accountability for those responsible.
According to Cheema, some locations have seen 70% of work completed, while others have reached 80% or 50%. The deadlines for the completion of certain projects are set for July, while others are expected to finish by August.
Today, Cheema conducted a review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, assessing the current situation and the progress of ongoing projects. He highlighted that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is providing grants to villages and towns, facilitating development work throughout the state.
Earlier, in an interview with a news agency, Cheema praised Hasan Preet as a young, energetic, and enthusiastic leader, expressing his happiness over Preet’s election as the first Mayor of Barnala. He emphasized that Preet will accelerate development efforts. Previously, Barnala operated as a council but has now transitioned into a municipal corporation, leading to Preet’s unanimous selection as Mayor, with 49 out of 50 council members supporting him.
Cheema also expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the positive results for the Aam Aadmi Party. He is confident that these outcomes will lead to improved conditions on the ground and further bolster development initiatives.
Additionally, he criticized the BJP, stating that it has become a threat to democracy. He accused the party of undermining democratic interests and attempting to manipulate the current political landscape to its advantage.
