
Anantnag, June 12: Preparations for the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 have commenced. In a comprehensive security initiative, the Anantnag police collaborated with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and other relevant agencies to conduct a mock drill at the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam.
The exercise aimed to test the readiness, coordination, and response capabilities of various security and emergency response agencies to potential emergencies during the pilgrimage. Different emergency scenarios were practiced, allowing participating agencies to assess their operational preparedness and enhance their response mechanisms.
Personnel from the Anantnag police, CAPF, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Fire and Emergency Services, Health Department, and other related agencies actively participated in this drill. The focus was on rapid response, effective communication, evacuation procedures, crowd management, and inter-agency coordination.
Senior officials monitored the exercise and reviewed the performance of the participating teams. Necessary instructions were issued to strengthen preparations and ensure better coordination among all agencies deployed for the yatra.
The Ganderbal police reiterated their commitment to providing a safe, peaceful, and pilgrim-friendly environment. They assured that all necessary measures are being taken in collaboration with the CAPF and civil administration to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026.
It is noteworthy that the Amarnath Yatra will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 9 (Raksha Bandhan). Registration for the yatra is mandatory and can be completed through the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) and designated banks.
