Guwahati, August 22: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that he met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss the ongoing flood relief efforts in the state. The meeting took place in New Delhi, where Sarma provided an update on the damage assessment, reconstruction plans, and initiatives to restore the livelihoods of affected families following the recent floods.
During the meeting, they discussed the roadmap prepared by the state government for assessing the flood damage and rebuilding the affected areas. Sarma expressed his appreciation for Sitharaman’s consistent support for Assam’s interests and aspirations, stating, “Meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is always a pleasure.”
The Chief Minister also informed Sitharaman about the flood relief operations underway in the state and the measures being taken by the government to mitigate the disaster’s impact. According to Sarma, the state government is focused on restoring essential infrastructure and helping flood-affected families regain their livelihoods.
He noted that Sitharaman listened to Assam’s concerns with seriousness and sensitivity, assuring continued support from the central government.
