Gurugram, August 22: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recounted his remarkable journey from working as a computer operator in 1996 to becoming the state’s Chief Minister. Speaking at the ‘Gen-H Youth Entrepreneur Choupal’ event at Gurugram University, he shared insights from his political career, emphasizing that success comes from hard work and perseverance, not shortcuts.
Saini addressed the youth, explaining that ‘Gen-H’ signifies not just Haryana but also ‘Gen-HB,’ meaning Haryana-India. He stated, “Gen-HB is the heartbeat of India.”
During the event, young entrepreneurs posed questions on various topics, including advancing without a political legacy, overcoming failure, technology, sports, employment, drug issues, startups, government efficiency, and family life.
In a live broadcast to over 4,000 institutions, Saini encouraged the youth to not let failure define them. Instead, they should focus on their work as their identity. He advised them to prioritize consistency, reliability, and patience over the pursuit of quick success.
When asked about progressing in politics without a background, Saini remarked that his journey had no elevators—only stairs, often with the next step hidden from view.
He recalled that upon entering politics, his first responsibility was not to run for office but to support another candidate’s campaign, often working until 2 AM.
Saini shared that when he had the chance to contest elections in 2009, he lacked sufficient funds. However, the support from the people helped him, even though he lost. He resolved that defeat would not define him; instead, he would learn and move forward.
The day after his loss, he returned to the people, despite having no position or guarantee of a ticket. His dedication paid off in 2014 when he achieved a significant victory.
Reflecting on a 1996 incident, he mentioned that Narendra Modi, then in charge of Haryana BJP, sent a computer to the party office in Panchkula. Saini never imagined that he would one day become Chief Minister while operating that very computer.
He noted that before 2014, while youth were utilized in politics, their aspirations were often suppressed. Learning from his 2009 defeat, he stood up with renewed enthusiasm the very next day. For him, positions were never paramount; the spirit of ‘Nation First’ always took precedence.
His desire to help people garnered public support in 2014, leading to his election and subsequent appointment as a minister. Saini attributed his rise to becoming an MP, BJP state president, and eventually Chief Minister to the affection of the people and the opportunities provided by his party.
