Patna, August 22: Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in Bihar’s Lok Sabha, visited the protest site at Gardanibagh on Friday. This location is where BPSC TRE-4 candidates and other students are on a hunger strike, demanding transparency in competitive examinations.
Yadav expressed his support for the protesters and launched a fierce attack on the Bihar government and the Education Minister regarding their demands. Addressing the gathering, he stated, “In a democracy, the people are paramount.” He emphasized that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will not hesitate to take to the streets or face police action if necessary to fight for the rights of Bihar’s youth.
At Gardanibagh, Yadav affirmed that the RJD fully supports the legitimate demands of the candidates participating in the hunger strike. He questioned why students are forced to protest on the streets over issues that the government should address.
According to him, an elected government is responsible for conducting examinations in a timely and transparent manner, free from irregularities, collusion, or paper leaks.
He accused the Bihar government of turning the state into a hub of unemployment, putting the future of students and youth at risk. Yadav stated that the opposition will unite to protect the interests of students and youth, reiterating RJD’s support for the ongoing movement at Gardanibagh.
He urged the government to listen to the concerns of students and youth, warning that “no position or seat of power is permanent,” and that public neglect due to political arrogance cannot be tolerated.
Additionally, he alleged that the government has cut financial assistance to youth under the ‘Saat Nischay’ scheme initiated in 2015. He argued that this reduction has increased the financial burden on families, especially during a time when inflation and unemployment are already pressing down on them.
Yadav reiterated that the RJD will continue to raise issues related to students and youth, from the streets to the state assembly, pledging to fight for their future.
In response to his comments, BJP MLA Sanjay Gupta countered, accusing Yadav of failing to raise issues concerning students and the general public during the Bihar Assembly’s monsoon session. Gupta claimed that Yadav’s visit to the protest site was an attempt to gain political advantage.
