Kolkata, August 22: The debate surrounding law and order in West Bengal has intensified following comments from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Minister Taapsee Roy supported Shah’s statements, asserting that the rule of law has been established in Bengal. He emphasized that with public support, the state will maintain this legal order moving forward.
Roy stated, “Amit Shah has spoken the truth. What was the situation in Bengal before? The rule of law that Shah referred to will be upheld with the backing of the people. The government is committed to fulfilling the expectations and aspirations of the citizens.” He added that the administration is consistently working to meet public needs, with Shuvendu Adhikari’s team also striving to enhance governance in the state.
On the issue of illegal immigration, Taapsee Roy took a firm stance, insisting that intruders should be deported from the country. He noted that the central leadership and the Home Minister have clarified their position on this matter multiple times. “Why should intruders remain in our India? Is India a dharamshala?” he questioned.
Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta also addressed the government’s priorities regarding law and order in Bengal. He mentioned that the government is moving forward to eliminate the “goonda raj” promised during the elections. The aim is to create an environment where people can live peacefully without any pressure or disorder in governance.
Dasgupta acknowledged that incidents still occur in some areas but assured that the government is working diligently to establish a peaceful and syndicate-free administration throughout the state. Amit Shah has also emphasized the importance of this direction.
