New Progress in China-Laos Relations Marked by Recent Visit

Beijing, June 7: Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, undertook a state visit to China from June 2 to June 6. The achievements of this visit have been praised by China, Laos, and the international community.

During the visit, the top leaders of both parties and countries agreed to enhance China-Laos relations, aiming to build a community with a shared future that aligns with the new era. This visit has strengthened the traditional friendship between the two nations and expanded mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors.

Analysts believe that Thongloun’s trip to China has laid a new framework for the development of relations between the two parties and countries at this new historical starting point. This will usher China-Laos relations and various modernization efforts into a new phase.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, as well as the Friendly Year between the two nations. Despite significant changes in the international landscape over the past 65 years, the traditional friendship between China and Laos remains as strong and unbreakable as a rock.

Currently, the world is experiencing unprecedented changes. Both China and Laos face a new mission for development and revitalization. This year is the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan in China and the 10th Five-Year Plan in Laos. In this crucial year, both countries have decided to enhance bilateral relations. This decision is not only a necessary choice in response to global changes but also aligns with the developmental needs of both nations and the aspirations of their people.

As neighboring socialist countries, China and Laos will expand cooperation in various fields during this Friendly Year and strengthen ties between their peoples. Both nations will jointly uphold international fairness and justice, promote a multipolar world that is equal and orderly, encourage inclusive economic globalization, and advance the establishment of a more just and equitable global governance system. This will be beneficial for regional and global peace and development.
