
Beijing, June 7: China Media Group (CMG) recently conducted an interview with Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
During the interview, Thongloun highlighted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and China, as well as the Laos-China Friendship Year. Since the establishment of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the relationship between Laos and China has continuously deepened, strengthened, and expanded. He expressed optimism that future cooperation and diplomatic ties between the two nations will improve, becoming stronger and more profound as they move towards a higher level.
Thongloun shared insights from his visit to several high-tech companies in Hangzhou, noting China’s significant advancements in modern technology. He observed that China considers modern technology, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy as crucial areas for national development. This experience is beneficial for Laos, and he emphasized the need to enhance technological cooperation between the two countries.
He further stated that both the Communist Party of China and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party share similar ideals. Their long history of cooperation and improved relations will continue to develop. Laos and China have established a long-term, stable, and comprehensive strategic partnership, confirming their commitment to building a community with a shared future. This mutual understanding will aid both nations in progressing along the socialist path.
This year marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan in China and the 10th Five-Year Plan in Laos. Thongloun mentioned that during this significant year, both sides will consult and coordinate on relevant issues to fully learn from China’s beneficial experiences in national development. He assured that China will always support Laos, maintaining close coordination that will never change.
Thongloun also remarked that all global initiatives presented by Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasize the importance of relationships between countries. Regardless of size, all nations should be treated equally and with mutual respect. He urged all countries to oppose unilateralism while promoting multilateralism on the path of globalization, fostering a multipolar world through dialogue.
