NEET UG Re-Exam Conducted Smoothly in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, June 21: The NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted peacefully and efficiently on Sunday in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Over 137,000 students participated in the exam across the two Telugu states.

Reactions from students varied after the test. Some found it significantly easier than the exam held on May 3, while others described it as more challenging. Most students reported that the Physics section was particularly tough, with Chemistry deemed average and Biology considered manageable.

In Telangana, more than 72,000 students took the re-exam at 208 centers spread across 24 cities. In Andhra Pradesh, over 65,000 students participated at 185 centers in 27 cities.

Extensive arrangements were made for the exam, which took place from 2 PM to 5:15 PM. Candidates with disabilities were allowed to complete their exams until 6:20 PM. Students began arriving at the centers between 11 AM and 1:30 PM, with no entry permitted after 1:30 PM. Authorities ensured thorough checks and biometric verification before granting access to the exam centers.

The examination was conducted in a pen-and-paper format using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) mode. Following the cancellation of the previous NEET exam due to a question paper leak, officials implemented comprehensive measures to ensure a smooth, transparent, and fair testing process.

Both state transport corporations announced free travel for candidates showing their hall tickets. Police enforced strict security measures around the exam centers, deploying additional personnel to manage vehicle traffic.

In some instances, police officers assisted candidates who mistakenly arrived at the wrong exam centers. An inspector from the Osmania University police station helped one candidate reach her correct center on time after she got lost in the area. Similarly, a constable from the Trimulgheri police station assisted a candidate and his father who had gone to the wrong location.

A heart-wrenching scene unfolded at an exam center in Hyderabad when a candidate, arriving after 1:30 PM, was denied entry and broke down in tears. Her father pleaded with security personnel, explaining that a technical glitch had delayed their arrival.

Telangana’s Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced that the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation would provide free transportation for students retaking the NEET exam. He criticized the central government for failing to conduct the previous exam properly, leading to the question paper leak. He stated that the cancellation caused significant distress for students nationwide and called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his moral responsibility.
