Irans Attacks Cause Damage to Kuwaits Military Bases and Water Plants, Several Soldiers Injured

Kuwait City, July 18: Rising tensions between Iran and the United States are now impacting Gulf nations. Kuwaiti officials reported on Friday that several soldiers were injured due to Iranian attacks, which also damaged a power generation and desalination plant.

The Kuwaiti military announced on the social media platform ‘X’ that enemy drones targeted multiple military bases and camps associated with the Kuwaiti army, resulting in injuries to several personnel.

According to Xinhua, on Friday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy stated on ‘X’ that the Iranian attacks caused damage to a power generation and desalination plant, leading to a fire and significant destruction.

The ministry confirmed that firefighting teams have controlled the blaze. Meanwhile, technical teams are repairing the damaged sections to restore operations at the plant.

The ministry urged the public to conserve electricity during this ‘extraordinary situation.’

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks, stating they violate Kuwait’s sovereignty and international law. The ministry warned that such assaults could escalate tensions across the region and affirmed Kuwait’s right to ensure its security.

This incident comes at a time when regional tensions are already heightened. However, a peace agreement (MOU) was reached between the U.S. and Iran in mid-June, which called for both nations to engage in negotiations within 60 days towards a final agreement.

Local media reported that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Friday that it retaliated by attacking U.S. special operations command centers in Syria, U.S. weapon depots and launchers in Kuwait, and radar sites in Oman.

According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the IRGC stated that these actions were initiated during the 11th, 12th, and 13th phases of Operation ‘Nasr-2.’ The 11th wave was conducted in memory of soldiers killed in the Bampoor area of Iran’s Iranshahr. During this time, Iranian forces launched a surprise attack on the U.S. special forces command center located in Syria’s Al-Tanf area.

The IRGC’s public relations department reported that the first retaliatory action targeted missile defense monitoring radars, several U.S. weapon depots, two HIMARS launchers, and multiple missiles at a U.S. base in Kuwait, resulting in a significant fire.
