New Delhi, July 18: Panama’s Foreign Minister, Javier Eduardo Martinez-Acha Vasquez, will embark on an official visit to India from July 19 to 23. This announcement was made by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday.
According to the ministry, the foreign minister will arrive in India on Sunday. On Monday, he is scheduled to meet with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal at the new Parliament building. Following this, he will hold discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at Hyderabad House.
After participating in several events in Delhi on Tuesday, he will meet with Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal at the Ministry of Transport on Wednesday. He is expected to depart from India on Thursday.
Earlier this month, India’s Ambassador to Panama, Sumit Seth, met with Foreign Minister Javier Martinez-Acha. During their meeting, both leaders discussed ways to strengthen the ties between India and Panama.
The Indian Embassy in Panama shared on the social media platform ‘X’ that Ambassador Sumit Seth presented Foreign Minister Javier Martinez-Acha with a symbolic pin of the India-Panama flag. They discussed enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
Last year, during an event organized by Ambassador Sumit Seth in Panama, Foreign Minister Javier Martinez-Acha expressed support for India’s stance against terrorism. This event welcomed an Indian parliamentary delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.
The delegation was visiting this important Central American country. Panama is also an elected member of the United Nations Security Council. The delegation clarified India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism following a religiously motivated attack by Pakistan-linked terrorists in Pahalgam that resulted in 26 fatalities.
Panama’s President, Jose Raul Mulino Quintero, also expressed support for India’s fight against terrorism during a meeting with the delegation.
