Over 1.6 Million Students Enrolled in Gujarats School Enrollment Festival

Gandhinagar, July 2: During the three-day ‘School Enrollment Festival and Kanya Kelvani Mahotsav’ in Gujarat, over 1.6 million students were enrolled across 37,211 schools. State government spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani announced this initiative aimed at increasing school enrollments and reducing dropout rates.

Following a cabinet meeting, Vaghani stated that this campaign was led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with the goal of enhancing literacy in the state and ensuring every child is enrolled in school.

The 24th School Enrollment Festival commenced at BN High School in Vadnagar, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his early education.

Sharing enrollment statistics, the minister revealed that during this campaign, over 193,000 children began their education in Anganwadi and nursery schools. Additionally, more than 434,000 children were enrolled in Balvatika, over 105,000 in Grade 1, over 593,000 in Grade 9, and more than 308,000 in Grade 11.

To make education more accessible, the government has also introduced transportation facilities in approximately 2,766 schools.

Vaghani noted that 13,084 meritorious girl students were provided with ‘Vidyalakshmi Bonds’ to promote girls’ education.

The minister highlighted that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, cabinet members, elected representatives, and senior officials visited schools during the three-day campaign.

Furthermore, donors from across Gujarat contributed over ₹28.97 crore for educational initiatives.

The minister emphasized that the campaign aims to increase Gujarat’s literacy rate and ensure 100% enrollment.
