New Delhi, August 29: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduate (NEET-PG) 2026 will be conducted on Sunday across 1,300 centers in 340 cities nationwide, with over 273,000 medical graduates expected to participate.
An official stated that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released the admit cards for NEET-PG 2026 on its official website on August 26.
According to the official, a total of 273,183 candidates have registered for NEET-PG 2026, marking an increase of over 12.5% compared to the previous year. The exam will be held in a single shift.
Passing NEET-PG allows doctors to secure seats in various advanced medical courses at government and private colleges, including MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery) programs.
Earlier, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda reviewed the preparations for NEET-PG 2026. He instructed all stakeholders to ensure the exam process is smooth, secure, transparent, and technology-driven.
To maintain the integrity of the exam, officials are relying on a comprehensive security arrangement, which includes CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, searches, signal jammers, dynamic computer allocation, live monitoring through central and regional command centers, and the deployment of over 60,000 exam personnel.
Nadda also urged candidates not to be misled by rumors or fraudulent claims related to the exam. He explained that the final question paper is selected through a highly secure, encrypted, and time-sensitive process shortly before the exam begins, incorporating multiple layers of technical and operational security measures.
Candidates were advised to trust only the official information released by NBEMS and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and to report any suspicious activities or attempts at malpractice immediately. Several improvements have been made this year for the convenience of students.
Candidates were able to choose three states for their exam centers, with their correspondence state being mandatory as the first preference.
Additionally, the exam pattern has been modified, requiring candidates to answer 180 questions within 210 minutes, ensuring they have ample time for each question.
