Three Arrested for LPG Cylinder Theft in New Delhi

New Delhi, August 29: The Nihal Vihar police have arrested three individuals, including two thieves, in connection with a series of thefts. This operation has led to the resolution of five separate cases. All suspects have prior criminal records.

According to the Delhi police, a complaint was filed on August 20, where the complainant alleged that someone had broken into his shop and stolen two commercial LPG cylinders, two inverter batteries, and ₹5,000 in cash. Following this, the Nihal Vihar police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.

During the investigation, the police team meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. They observed several individuals arriving at the location in an auto-rickshaw. Based on local intelligence, efforts were made to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, information was received regarding the suspects’ presence with an auto-rickshaw on the Risal Garden, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road. Acting on this tip-off, the police conducted a planned raid at the identified location and apprehended two suspects in an auto-rickshaw. Upon interrogation, they were identified as Mohit alias Patha and Rajiv. A commercial LPG cylinder, identified as stolen, was recovered from the auto-rickshaw.

When asked to present the necessary documents for the auto-rickshaw, the suspects failed to do so. Further investigation revealed that the auto-rickshaw was reported stolen, with an FIR lodged at the Palam Vihar police station in Gurugram.

The suspects disclosed that after committing the crime, they sold the stolen goods to a man named Mahendra and provided information about his whereabouts. Based on this information, the police team raided the indicated location and arrested Mahendra. They recovered one commercial LPG cylinder and four domestic LPG cylinders, all reported stolen, from his possession.
