New Delhi, July 20: Political rhetoric has intensified during the monsoon session of Parliament, with various issues taking center stage. Several MPs and leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have voiced their opinions on the proceedings of Parliament, the opposition’s protests, delimitation, the NEET exam, and the CJP’s protest march. They emphasized that Parliament is the most appropriate platform for democratic discussions and questioned the politics of disruption and chaos.
BJP MP Kangana Ranaut stated that Parliament sessions are convened to discuss important issues in detail and ensure government accountability. She expressed that the BJP desires smooth functioning of the House and expects the opposition to raise all their questions within Parliament. Creating chaos under the guise of protests and obstructing parliamentary proceedings is not in line with democratic traditions.
Ranaut further remarked that the public has elected the government through a democratic process, and it is the government’s prerogative to decide how to operate. If any party or leader has objections to government policies, they should seek public support through elections. Pressure on the government regarding appointments or dismissals cannot solely be exerted through protests. The purpose of Parliament is dialogue and debate, not confrontation.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal responded to the formation of a separate group by some Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs, stating that the Constitution grants MPs the right to form separate groups. He added that if some MPs have formed a separate faction, it is their constitutional right, and there is no justification for opposing it. However, he also criticized walkouts as contrary to the spirit of the Constitution.
BJP leader Rekha Sharma commented on the issue of delimitation, describing it as a lengthy and necessary process. According to her, many areas still lack adequate representation in proportion to their population due to delays in delimitation. She anticipates broad support for upcoming legislation on this topic.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Kamaljeet Sahrawat addressed concerns regarding the NEET exam, asserting that the central government is fully sensitive to the issue and has taken necessary steps to address irregularities related to the exam. He noted that both students and the government faced challenges due to some intermediaries, but the government remains committed to protecting students’ interests.
In response to the CJP’s protest march, Sahrawat stated that appropriate platforms are available for expressing views in a democracy, but spreading chaos is unacceptable under any circumstances. The government is continuously working towards understanding and resolving the country’s issues.
