
Muzaffarpur, July 21: In a shocking incident in the Ram Bagh area of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, a retired bank employee and his wife were brutally murdered in their home on Monday evening. The double homicide has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting an immediate investigation by the police.
The victims have been identified as Ashok Kumar, a retired employee of Punjab National Bank, and his wife. Preliminary investigations reveal that the assailants attacked Ashok Kumar with a knife, resulting in his death at the scene. His body was found on the ground floor of their home, while his wife’s body was discovered on the upper floor. It is suspected that she was first bound and then strangled to death. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following the post-mortem report.
The incident came to light when the couple’s son, Nikhil, contacted a neighbor, expressing concern that the home’s CCTV camera was malfunctioning and that he had been unable to reach his parents for an extended period. Upon the neighbor’s arrival, both bodies were found. The police were immediately notified, and officers from the Mithanpura police station arrived to secure the area and begin their investigation. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was later called to collect evidence from the crime scene.
City SP Mohibullah Ansari also inspected the site and instructed investigators to explore all angles thoroughly. The police are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras and interviewing local residents. Currently, the motive behind the murders remains unclear.
Authorities have stated that they are considering all possible angles, including robbery, personal enmity, and other motives, as part of their investigation. Technical and scientific evidence will also be utilized to aid in solving the case.
