Mumbai, July 21: The Bihar Congress has announced an intensified campaign focusing on student-related issues across the state. Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram stated on Monday that the party will conduct press conferences and student dialogue programs at 16 different locations on July 22 under its ‘Students’ Voice’ initiative. The aim of this campaign is to highlight student problems and unite them on a common platform.
Rajesh Ram mentioned, “Following the event in Kota, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Students’ Voice’ program in Dehradun has become a medium to raise student issues at the national level. Initially, this program began as a large gathering of students, which later transformed into a rally. Concerns regarding the exam system, paper leaks, and employment issues are continuously rising among students.”
The Bihar Congress President emphasized, “We are also preparing for similar student conferences in the state. This will not be a political event. Only students and Rahul Gandhi will participate, and discussions will not involve any political party topics. Rahul Gandhi has raised several significant issues in student programs, including flaws in the examination system and problems like paper leaks.”
Rajesh Ram pointed out, “Every year, a large number of youth participate in competitive exams across the country, but repeated incidents of paper leaks and exam cancellations are increasing dissatisfaction among students. Approximately 90 million candidates appear for various exams each year, and incidents of paper leaks have been reported multiple times. The Congress is reaching out to students regarding these issues.”
He further explained, “Press conferences and student dialogue programs will be held at 16 locations in Bihar. The registration process has already begun. A significant number of students from districts like Purnia and Patna have registered, showing their interest in this campaign.”
Meanwhile, targeting the central government regarding protests, Rajesh Ram stated, “Peaceful protests and satyagraha are the rights of the people in a democracy. Those who adhere to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology always express their views non-violently. Hunger strikes are also a peaceful means of protest, but the government is ignoring such movements.”
The Congress leader accused the government of using repressive policies to silence dissent. He claimed, “The government is trying to create an atmosphere of fear through actions against protesters and legal cases. In a democracy, the government should resolve issues through dialogue. Problems related to students and youth have reached a serious level, and the government must seek solutions through conversation. The Congress is also raising these issues in Parliament and will continue to strongly advocate for students’ voices.”
